Aligarh is a big city when has emerged as one of the fastest growing industrial hubs of western U.P. The city, Aligarh, however had little scope to provide commerce education to the larger section of the pupil who desired to make a career in the branch.
It was the day of 1st July 1986, when the dream at last found its form as the B.Com Classes where commenced in D.S. College, Aligarh from one classroom with 142 students and 03 Lectures in 1986, the department has came a long way miffing the hurdles and now it is one by the biggest in Agra University so far as the strength of Student (at U.G. Level)
In the year 1997-98 government gave the permission to run evening class in the B.Com. These classes run up to 2006-07 after that government closed these classes.
In the year 1997-98 UGC granted to permission for B.Com. (Vocational) Classes but due to same difficulties this course was closed in the year 2006-07. With the efforts management and the Principal this course re-started in the session 2020-21 and now this course in running successfully.
In the year 2009, the department had achieved another milestone by getting affiliation for P.G. classes (M.Com. self finance). At present the department is running P.G. classes in all three groups i.e. Business Administration Group, Accounts & Law Group and Applied Business Group.
Several students of faculty qualified UGC-NET exams. A dozen of student are working as chartered Accountants. A student named Sandeep Maheshwari is an IRS officer posted in the Indian Railways, Allahabad. Many students are given their services in Banking & Share market etc.
The following faculty members are working in the department as Shri Atul Mittal joined as a Lecture on date 01 July 1986 and he retired on date 30th June 2021. Dr Apurv Chaturvedi joined as a Lecturer on date 01 July 1986 and also Dr. P.K. Jain joined on date 01 July 1986 now Dr. Apurv Chaturvedi and Dr. P.K. Jain working as an Associate Professor.
In self Finance course M.Com Dr. Mohit Kumar Saxena joined as an Asstt. Professor on date 24th Oct 2010, Dr. J.K. Sharma and Dr. Rashmi Agrawal joined on 01st Nov 2014, Dr. Yogesh Kumar joined on 07th Aug 2015 and Dr. Grish Babu joined on 24th Aug 2015 and Rajesh Kumar Joined on 01st Aug. 2018 and all faculty members are working continuously.
B.Com I Semester course implemented, Under National Education Policy 2020 in the session 2021-22. B.Com (Vocational) yearly re-started from session 2020-21 and M.Com yearly is also continued.

Actually in the Faulty of commerce, the Government of Uttar Pradesh sanction three posts in the course of B.Com. and the Vive-chancellor of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, Agra has given approval of Six posts in self Financed course M.Com. Now one post in B.Com course is Vacant and six posts in course M.Com are filled.

Rajashri Tondan Open University, Allahabad, Member of Indian Accounting Association, Allahabad, Incharge Admission Committee, paper setting U.G. and P.G. Courses of different Penal expert for affiliation and Examiner at U.G. and P.G. Level in different Universities of the state.
Dr. Apurv Chaturvedi working as a member of board of studies of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Univesity, Agra, member of Examination committee, Member of games committee, Incharge of Admission committee, paper setter at U.G. and P.G. Level of different state universities Examinor of answer books. Penal expert for the affiliation of course, Examiner of U.G. and P.G. Level of viva-voce in different state Universities and also actively worked as a Deputy Chief Proctor in the facility of Commerce.
Dr. P.K. Jain working as a convener of admission Committee, member of proctorial board, Member of Student Help desk, Member of Student welfare committee, member of cultural committee, member of educational Board of Magazine, member of games committee (faculty of commerce), at college level and also working a Senior Superintendent of University Examinations, member of Indian Economics Association, member of UPUEA, member of Accounting Association, Allahabad, member of Professional Bodies, Societies etc, member of the institute of chartered Accountants of India (Examiner), member of board of studies in Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, Agra, Research Guide and also working as a member of course affiliation inspection committee of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, Agra. His valuable contribution in research paper publication in peer reviewed journals at National and International level with ISSN (10), two books with in ISBN No. chapter in books (04), attended 15 seminar and conferences. He has successfully completed worked on UGC Minor Project. He played significant role to conducted General Knowledge competition in among students of the different streams on behalf of Election Commission at Aligarh district level on date 10th Jan 2017. He played a pivotal role in sports, games and cultural activities for the entire development of students Four Ph.D. awarded under his kind supervision.
Dr. Mohit Kumar Saxena has given valuable contribution in the publication of various chapter books (08). His valuable contribution in the publication of research papers at National and International level. four Ph.D. Awarded under his kind supervision. He is working as a member. Member of Indian Economics Association, member of UPUEA, member of Accounting Association, Allahabad, member of Executives committee in I.E.A. and various cultural Committee member at college level, Attended 20 Seminar and conferences. Member of Proctorial board and admission committee at college level, Academic counselor of IGNOU, (U.P., P.G. and Ph.d.). Research Guide, Examiner at University level, Dy co-ordinator of UP RTO University, Allahabad at college centre, counselor for B.Ed. councelling year 2015, Incharge – Leader, the Bharat scouts and Guide of D.S. College, Aligarh.
Dr. J. K. Sharma has attended various National and International Seminar and conferences. His valuable contribution in the publication of peered review journals. He is working as a Research Guide at Shri J.P.J.T. University, Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan, an examiner of ICMA, Kolkata, examiner of the evaluation work in various state universities, member in Indian Economic Association, UPUEA, Admission Committee at college level, U.P. B.Ed. counsellor, Academic counsellor of IGNOU at S.V. College, Aligarh and D.S. College, Aligarh and also worked with the securities and exchange Board of India (SEBI), New Delhi as a Resource Person etc.
Dr. Rashmi Agrawal has published two research papers and attend four Seminar and conference. She is working as a member of Indian Economic Association and a member of College Admission Committee.
Dr. Yogesh Kumar has given contribution in the text book publication. He attended various seminars and presented research papers in different journals and also working as a member of Indian economic association, UPUEA, Indian Accounting Association, Ahmadabad, Bhartiya Arthik shodh Santhan, Allahabad, member in proctorial board, member of admission committee at the College level, U.P. B.Ed. Counsellor, Academic Counsellor of IGNOU at study Centre at College level, examiner at various state universities etc.
Dr. Grish Babu has given his valuable contribution in the attended various seminars and conferences and in the publication of different journals. He is working as a strongly GST Legal Advisor, member of IEA, member at faculty of commerce college level, member of Proctorial Board, B.E.d Counseller, Examinor of IGNOU and various state Universities, Research Guide at Ph-D level of S.J.P.J.T. University, JhunJhunu, Rajasthan, Acadmic Counsellor of UPRTOU, Allahabad. Etc.
Dr. Rajesh Kumar has given valuable role in the attending various seminar and conferences and in the publication of different journals. He is working as a member of college Admission committee, member of IEA and UPUEA, examiner at different Universities etc and examiner in IGNOU at college level. He has been completed Oriental Program from Aligarh Muslim University.
